Before anything, thank you so much for your time and the opportunity of know more about you and your Razorland trilogy
1. Who is Ann Aguirre? How you describe yourself?
¿Quién es Ann Aguirre? ¿Cómo se describiría?
I’m Ann Aguirre. Under my own name, I write romantic science fiction, and YA. I’ve been writing pretty much all my life, but things took off for me in 2007, and it’s been a heck of a ride. I live in Mexico with my family, where I work super hard, play video games and watch Doctor Who.
Yo soy Ann Aguirre.

2. Do you have some peculiarity when write?
¿Tienes alguna peculiaridad al escribir?
If I’m drafting a book, I write for three hours in the morning. I don’t check email or mess around online. Generally, that’s 3K words. To keep the writing moving that fast, I block the scene the night before in bed as I’m waiting to fall asleep. I know what I’m writing in the morning, so there’s no blank staring time. When I’m writing, I write: typity typity type. Once I’ve finished my words, that’s not the end of my work day. I spend the other five hours working on edits, revisions, galleys, or whatever else has come across my desk. I also do promo and networking.

3. What do you feel when you finish writing a book?
When I wrap up a book, that’s a thrill, but when I start a big project, a three book arc, I have all these ideas tangled up with the fear that I won’t be able to do them justice. Is my ability equal to my vision? I have no idea. Until I power through and complete the series. Once I do that, it’s the biggest rush and I just savor it.  When I write the final volume in a series, it’s indescribably delightful.
No tengo idea.

4. Which is the best part of create a new story?
The beginning is always wonderful since I'm full of excitement and enthusiasm for the project, and I can't wait to learn more about the world and characters.

5. Do you normally take characteristics of people known to create a character?
I lift dialogue I've overheard in real life sometimes, but I don't base my characters on real people. At most, there may be a trait in common.

6. Why a dystopia?
¿Por qué una distópia?
I was a child in the 80s, when we lived with the constant fear from nuclear stockpiling and the cold war. In grade school, they actually showed us films on what we should do if the bomb dropped. As a result, I've always had some issue from that constant anxiety. When I'm afraid of something, I tend to work it into my books, so it was natural that I would, someday, write about the end of the world as we know it.

Plus, I think in YA they're uplifting. No, seriously. You take a world in utter disarray. Things are incredibly bleak. Then a hero arises, someone who has the desire and drive to succeed, no matter what. And this person changes his or her world in some fashion. How can that message not be incredibly valuable to young adults? I think it lends hope that there can always be brightness, no matter how dark it seems.

7. When I read Enclave I was surprised by Deuce’s civilization, How was the process of create a new life style, I mean laws and jobs?
My worldbuilding process seems to be unusual in the sense that I don’t create worlds before characters. With me, character is king. The people I write are real to me, and basically, they tell me about their environments on a need-to-know basis. To many people, this probably sounds crazy; fictitious people who live in my head tell me things that I didn’t know before? Suuuure.
Claaaaaaro.

8. What is the origin of Frikis? (Not in the story, in your mind)
¿Cuál es el origen de los Engendros?
I made a lot of it up, based on bits of science I could find, and then I extrapolated, given certain theories about how humans developed intelligence that separated them from animals.  I tried to do some research, but there’s not a lot of information regarding genetic mutations due to biological and chemical warfare. They definitely have an arc, however, and I can’t wait until readers read about it in Horde. I did my best to foreshadow, but it wasn’t easy since I was locked into Deuce’s head, and I couldn’t show scenes from any other points of view.

9. What can you tell us about the romance we found in Enclave and sequels? How was forming that part in your mind?
Romance is always a big part of any story I write. I think the desire to be loved is a pretty universal trait, and who doesn't enjoy reading about two people finding each other, even in dark times? I always knew how the romance would end up, however. I had pretty definite plans from the beginning, and I hope readers are pleased.

10. How was the writing process of Enclave? Were there any problems?
¿Cómo fue el proceso de escribir Enclave? ¿Hubo algún problema?
It was very intense. When I was writing this book, I was completely subsumed in the world I had created. Deuce and Fade felt so real to me as I lived  / wrote their adventures and trials. The intensity was physically exhausting.

11. Was your purpose to show that live in the old and don’t renew the laws can lead to failure of all? Mainly for the closed mind of seniors
Yes, I think that's one of the themes. Adaptation and keeping an important mind is definitely an important quality.
